I used Oracle9 + RHat + VMware, but sorry, now I am
using Mac OS X with O9iR2. And MS Office/Mac.
But if you need to "reuse" your WinTel desktop, then
Linux + Oracle seems a much more sensible option than
Win + Oracle. Yes, Oracle runs in Windows, but it's
one of those things that "attract bad luck" like
having to rebuild the Oracle info on a windows
registry (btw, once I had to manually completely
remove a beta oracle version from a win2k machine;
including everything connected to Oracle in a
registry. That's a lot and even if I was in a plane, I
couldn't even use the /*+ IRONY */ GREAT flight
service.
