Install problem: Can't find libjvm.a

I am trying to install 9.2.0.1 on an AIX 5 server. When I runInstaller, I get

"Initializing Java Virtual Machine from /tmp/OraInst.../jre/bin/java. Please wait...

Can't find libjvm.a"

There is a libjvm.a in the PATH. Is the Installer looking for one in the /tmp area or on the disk? I can't find one there.

I haven't installed on AIX in years, and I haven't had this problem on other O/Ss.

Any suggestions?
