Home -> Community -> Mailing Lists -> Oracle-L -> RE: public vs. private synonym internals
Second time today I wrote something, only to realize I left something
out and have to follow up with an addition. I really am getting senile...;-)
I meant to mention, I first read about the public/private synonym differences
on Steve Adams' site, if I recall correctly, look through the old newsletters
for an article having to do with synonyms, and if I recall correctly, he
spelled it 'sin-onyms' in the title.

Other than that (which can be significant), I can't imagine how much differently synonyms would be handled as far as public vs. private goes.

We have ORA-600 errors in production pertaining to public synonyms and our IIS middle tier. Neither we nor Oracle know why. We were able to switch to private synonyms and it works for now.
The oracle support person said there are internal oracle docs on the internals and the differences between them, but can't give it to me. Has anyone written any articles on the topic?
