It sounds like a fundamental terminology problem. I don't think database, as oracle uses the term, means what you think it means. I don't know sql server but if it is anything like informix then when it says database you need to think instance or whole system. Go to tahiti.oracle.com, pick your version, click list of books, scroll to concepts, download pdf, forget everything you already know, embrace the new world.

Hie All,
I would like to find out from you what should be created first between the database and the tablespace? The book I managed to lay my hands on does not say, and I'm lost as what should I create first. Also does the database use the same datafile as the tablespace?
