Sorry guys,
DataGuard was there with 8i. I'v the Oracle8i Data Guard Concepts,
Administration and Installation guide right in front of me. I must admit
that Oracle that a good job hiding the existence of this feature, but it
works, and it works fine! It's there on AIX, HP-UX and Solaris. It is
merely (ksh)script based, and comes with 5 small executables.
