Home -> Community -> Mailing Lists -> Oracle-L -> RE: 9.2.0.5 database server patch
Sean:
I have not installed it in Windows, but I have installed on HP-UX. The installations are not a problem...well...mostly... but there is some strangeness.
The first thing the doco says to install in the v10 Installer.
Huh. Ok, so I do that on a currently running system. I then
(as usual) run the installed Installer, from $ORACLE_HOME/bin.
Wrong! It's the 2.2 Installer! To run the new installer you
have to be in the oui directory, wherever that is (it's been
dropped into two different locations so far).
I tried to install it (the v10 Installer, that is) into a=20 current ORACLE_HOME. On one system (only, so far) I got a=20 message "You have specified a non-empty directory to install this product. It is recommended to specify either an empty or non-existent directory". So I installed it into an empty directory. Ok, but then I tried to install the 9.2.0.5 patch set and got "You do not have OUI 10.1.0.2.0 installed." Arg!
Finally, adding insult to injury is the 'root.sh' script, which runs but executes bad commands on my HP-UX system. I=20 re-downloaded the patch set because I thought I might have=20 mislabeled a Sun patch set as an HP set. No joy.
Very strange, IMHO. Just be careful.
Cheers,
Mike

Subject: 9.2.0.5 database server patch
We are currently using Oracle 9.2.0.4 on Windows 2000 and are =
considering
applying patch set 9.2.0.5 but would like to verify its stability first.
Has anybody applied the Oracle 9.2.0.5 database server patch set? Any
feedback or issues with this patch set?
Normally I would wait a bit longer after the patch set release date
(01-April in this case) but project timelines are pushing earlier
consideration.
In brief, would you recommend applying the patch set now or waiting =
until a
later date?
