Can you do a quick snapshot-type comparison of v$sesstat values for that session (from another session of course)? This might show up Stats that may show what's occurring... I have used STATSPACK can snapshot a _session_ but don't have the details at the top of my head... (I think this is available in the STATSPACK readme file).
