Valerie - My guess is that it would be a risk. The patch might relate to something you would encounter, or might not. If it was a production system, probably an unacceptable risk. For a test system, maybe an acceptable risk. Did they give a reason for not wanting to apply patches?

Subject: OS Required Patches

What are the consequences to not installing all of the required OS patches for an Oracle software installation? My sys admins want me to ignore the Installer failures and install without them. I think I may have software issues later if the patches are not applied.

The patches are for Java 2 SDK (HP-UX 11.0 64 bit) and Oracle Developer Suite 10g (9.0.4)
