  1. My current favorite Perl book is "Perl Medic": http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/0201795264

The above book helped me setup test cases, do code optimization, and is strong on 'common sense'.

2) And, of course, I find the universal CD Bookshelf, version 4.0, is a very useful reference on my laptop: http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/0596006225

I'm interested to hear about others recommendations, too. Good post.
