The file naming business is a real complication. I know you can specify the
format of the names that rman uses when creating backup sets. I've never
tried to see how specific and predictable I could get with the names. Since
rman doesn't write its backup sets to standard out (as far as I know), I
don't see any way to use something like a command line pipe.
