Yeah, perhaps resetlogs does mess with the activation id.
We have to rebuild the standby anyway. Oh well.

Mladen is clearly shooting in the dark here :) Stay away from changing the dbid unless you have to, the only time I know where resetting the dbid is acceptable is when you are restoring an instance from RMAN completely, where the control files and spfile have to be first recovered from an RMAN backupset. You need to set the DBID in order to get your empty instance to startup force. I have run several dataguard standby configs, and moved the primary several times, never have I had to reset the DBID. You killed your config when you opened the primary resetlogs. But I already said that :)

No secrets here, I definitely talk too much. The word "secret" isn't even a part of my vocabulary. As for the DBID, isn't that the error that you are getting? I believe that standby ID and the main database ID should definitely be the same.
