Home -> Community -> Mailing Lists -> Oracle-L -> Re: DOS?
The idea of this list, as I understand it, is to discuss oracle questions
above the beginners level. Running DOS commands from windows is netiher an
oracle question nor is it above beginner level. I am bothered by the recent
flood of beginner level question which generate a lot of useless traffic and make
this list less useful then it was for me. For instance, I'm much less bothered
by an OT post by Mogens then by the flood of "how to run DOS commands from
my windows" questions. Having 170+ posts a day, most of the useless is not
my idea of a useful list. For beginner level questions, there is comp.databases.oracle.server
and Sybrand Bakker, who nobly tries to help everybody. I understood this list as
a little bit more exclusive club and that is why I joined. If a person asking
how to run DOS commands formats his or her drive, it 's fine with me. May be
that person should consider reading manuals or asking the question elsewhere,
may at some forum more appropriate for "how to turn on my PC" type of questions.
Also, I detest efforts to turn this forum into a Sunday school. I've already
had my fill of Sunday school, no need for more. This list is, generally speaking,
very useful to me and I'd like it to remain that way.
