Pete, it says "malformed archive", which probably means that your
library is corrupt. Please, do
"nm u01/app/oracle/product/10.1.0/db_1/lib//libctxc10.a"
and see if nm can read it. The "nm" utility and linker use the same mechanism, so if "nm" can't read it, neither can ld.
