Hi All,
I'm lead editor of the databases group at Apress and Jared has kindly given me permission for a slightly off-topic post, regarding an opportunity to contribute to one of the books that I'm currently working on. If you're interested, please respond directly to me (tony_at_apress.com) rather than to the list.
The book, "Oracle Insights, Tales of the OakTable", is part of our OakTable Press Series and is basically a sort of "collected war stories" from 12 of the OakTable members, including a few contributors to this list, such as Jonathan Lewis (for a description, see http://www.apress.com/book/bookDisplay.html?bID=314).
The book has a serious intent but will be reasonably light-hearted and humorous in its approach, and my idea was that, if there was sufficient interest, we could have a short section in the book for anecdotes from other contributors. I assume that everyone has at least one war story to tell, so I encourage anyone who's interested to submit their Oracle (or at least IT) related tale. It can be funny, sad, angry, or just plain bizarre, but it should be short (1-5 pages) and true (or a fictionalized version of a true story).
If the story gets chosen for inclusion in the book, the author will get his or her name printed with their story and a free copy of the book when it's published.
So, if you're potentially interested in seeing your story in print, then drop me a line and I will provide further details.
Best,
Tony.
