Mladen,
they have the "big blue" IBM ESS Sharks, but also those from Hitachi are
fast. I don't have the measurements for the latter so I wouldn't like to
comment.

What SANs are that? EMC or HP/Hitachi? Those HP/Hitachi things are really, really fast with decent amount of write-back cache, but for some reason, much more software is available for EMC.
