Remote_login_passwordfile applies to 'remote' connections. Note that sqlplu= s /@dbname as sysdba is a 'remote' connection even if run from the console.= For local connections it works the same way IIRC, but the group is ORA_DBA=or ORA_SID_DBA.=20

What about Windows 2000 when same behaviour while logging as sys(not system= )as
and user is a part of dba group. I think it depends on setting of=20 remote_login_passwordfile=3DEXCLUSIVE( if setting is NONE no problem).
