9iAS application which docs to read first?

I go to the 9iAS application server docs page and there are tons of docs. What do i read first? I flipped through the 'concepts' document and its all over the place.

I dont know what I want to learn, since this isnt for work. I just want to get a feel for it.

also, I believe i read somewhere you need a static IP address to use the application server right? I have a cable modem at home that flips IPs, do I need to buy a static IP?
