Home -> Community -> Mailing Lists -> Oracle-L -> LONG RAW versus BLOB performance
Hi everyone,
I have been asked a question about the performance differences between LONG RAW columns and BLOB columns. The columns would be used to store images (probably JPG) so indexing of the column isn't an issue.
I know of some of the implementation differences, such as an ability to place BLOB's in their own tablespace, the ability to have multiple BLOB's in the one table, etc, but know nothing about whether there is a real performance difference in terms of writing and reading.
If you have any information on this, or any pointers to articles I would really appreciate them.
Thanks,
Mark.
