So, in this sense, we (or rather our jobs) really are helping world peace? That'll make me feel better as I upsell customers to the "Biggie"-size combo meal... :-)

Continuing with the "water level in the lake" analogy, I do believe that production support (applications, databases, systems, and network) and its attendent skills (i.e. architecture, high-availability, and performance tuning) reside in the deepest part of the lake...
