Hi,
has anybody any experience of HP's Openview Storage Data Protector product in relation to backing up Oracle databases? Any good or bad points to comment on?
Am currently evaluating this product from Oracle RMAN perspective as well as our overall centralised backup management process.
Using Windows 2000 and Oracle 8.1.7 Enterprise Edition.
Am experiencing difficulty performing restores from tape via RMAN and Data
Protector - can restore files individually when I issue "restore
tablespace..." and "restore datafile..." commands in RMAN but when I issue
"restore database" the Data Protector media management layer hangs
indefinitely after restoring first datafile and reports a status of
"Pending" in the Data Protector client interface.
Having no problems executing backups but would be interested in people's general experiences and views.
Thanks,
Mark.
