Appending to a Spool file

Is it possible to append to a spool file without leaving SQLPlus? What would
be cool to do is run a script multiple times and have the SPOOLED output
append to one file. After referencing the oracle docs and metalink there
seems to be no solution. Has anyone come up with any workarounds?
