Jerome - I wouldn't do it. In a recovery situation I want everything to be
as simple as possible. When RMAN wants a file, I want to be able to give it
exactly the file it wants and not have to worry about whether I should give
it the file from yesterday or the day before.

Subject: RMAN
Has anybody tried using the same backup filename on RMAN? So if you use xxx.dmp on Monday, move this file to tape then reuse the same filename for the Tuesday dump. I think as long as the file is not on disk then RMAN accepts the filename. Does anyone know if there are complications when it comes to doing restores?
Thanks.
