Home -> Community -> Mailing Lists -> Oracle-L -> Re: RMAN
jroa,
I don't think that will work because RMAN keeps track of the files it
creates and you should use the RMAN %values on the names to make them
unique. Else how would it know the name of the file to restore from?

Has anybody tried using the same backup filename on RMAN?
So if you use xxx.dmp on Monday,move this file to tape then
reuse the same filename for the Tuesday dump.
I think as long as the file is not on disk then RMAN accepts the
filename. Does anyone know if there are complications when it
comes to doing restores?
Thanks.
