Actually, I believe part of it has to do with our very inefficient social security and health care system. If you have a good pension plan AND guaranteed paid medical care, you need less money to have the same level / quality of life...
.. well at least that is the theory, I would rather pay my own medical expenses and get all that extra $$$$

I wonder if some of the social/ecconomic differences (such as socilized medicine) make some of the difference.
Also, Canadians are a more irritable bunch, so to preserve this nature they are probably paid less. If you paid them more you'd have a happy Canadian and then they wouldn't know what to do.

I have never been able to figure this out, salaries are typically lower
in
Canada than in the U.S., for no apparent reason that I can think of.
