Canadians are amateurs when it comes to taxation. Here are some ideas from Denmark:
Top tax: 62% - and it hits even lowly paid teachers.
VAT 25% on everything.
180% on cars. After adding that, you add the 25% VAT. So $10K becomes $35K.
Then of course there are the special taxes on chocolate, sugar....
The latest news is that Sweden just managed - by a very strong effort - to squeeeze past Denmark as number 1 in taxation. Respect!

I have never been able to figure this out, salaries are typically lower in Canada than in the U.S., for no apparent reason that I can think of.
