port 2030

I am installing 9i clients on my user's pcs. The client defaults to using port 2030 for the MTS. We were attacked by hackers through this port last week. I don't use MTS at all. Does anyone know more about this setup to know if I turned off this port, what it would affect? If anything that matters to me. I am running NT. From the extremely limited docs about the client, I can't see any harm in turning it off. Let me know your thoughts - opinions.
