First of all, use "Top Sessions" to find out what is SMON doing. I suspect that you've hit some coalescing bug. Error message looks like AIX, but you haven't listed anything. Try with "dmesg" and see whether there are any errors on the OS side. AIX can do aio on JFS and there might be a problem or one of your raw devices isn't reachable any more (SAN perhaps?).

Its the end of day so I will leave it running and see if SMON finishes. Ive checked space etc..checked metalink briefly but if any of you can give me some suggestions I will try them. thanks
