Actually you can save a lot of time by eliminating the middle-man and going
straight to the data dictionary.

For example, you build a b-tree index but then decide later on that actually
you meant to create a bitmap index?
Simply
update sys.ind$ set property = property + 16 where obj# = &index_object_id ;

That one procedure that keeps on giving you compilation errors? just
delete from sys.error$ where obj# = &procedure_object_id ; update sys.obj$ set status = 1 where obj# = &procedure_object_id ; All compilation errors easily fixed!

And moving a large table to a different tablespace can be SOOO time-consuming. Just
update sys.tab$ set ts# = &new_tablespace_number ;
