I've already seen it however.
Yes, named pipes work on Windows, but not easily from the command line ( there is no mknod p or mkfifo in Windows AFAIK ), and not at all with Oracle's export and import utilities.
They can be made to work with sqlloader, but only with fixed length records. At that, you must write a program in C or Perl to set up the pipe.
This is documented by Oracle. I've also tried it. exp/imp don't work with named pipe on windoze.

I think someone may have fed you some bad info, named pipes do work on windows, just a little differently, check this link out for more info:
