I agree - use the same user.
When you apply patches at a later date, you just need to remember to switch the orainst.loc files around for the appropriate home.

I did this thread a few weeks back. I found it much easier to install in the same base using the same userid. Then all you have to do is set env vars depending on what you want to work on.
