I hate to say this, but you could save yourself a lot of trouble by buying Robert's book. In Chapter 12 he goes through TSPITR in some detail, and I quote "The auxiliary instance must reside on the same box as the target database".

Is it possible to have two database with same name on same node . Yeah , the instance name is different .
I want to test tspit recovery using rman . Unfortunately dont have a seprate box to do this .
