FATHER OF RELATIONAL DATABASE MODEL HAS DIED | Mercury News
The father of the relational database model is dead. Edgar F. Codd, a former IBMer, died over the weekend. He was 79. Before Codd's 1970 research paper laying out the principles of the relational model, analyzing large amounts of data was difficult.
