Hi List

I have two Questions : Platform Solaris 2.6/2.8

Q1. How do i block a particular port (my lisntener is running on it) / how do i bring it back?. I am not talking about lsnrctl start/stop. Is there any other way?

Q2. What firewall shall i use, which will work on the same server as the database with one network interface. Our requirement is as follows: The application / POS server attempts to connect to the database but the firewall prevents it from doing so, and we want to "capture" the timeout and send a message to the requesting process.

Sorry if my questions sound trivial.

TIA GovindanK
