RE: DBA's that tune duhveloper's SQL

Hi Deborah,

Like a lot of questions : it depends.

I'm more a development DBA than a production DBA. In most projects I've been too as a consultant, I've helpep tune or tune myself the biggest/baddest SQL of the developpers.

Now that I'm not a consultant anymore but a permanent employee, I'm not dedicated to a single project so I have less time to help the developpers but I'm still responsible for what goes in production .... To save me work and time, I'm preaching tkprof to the developpers so they can be more autonomous.

  We have a consultant doing some work at our site and he claims that in most shops the DBA's have the responsibility of tuning duhvelopers code. I find that hard to believe.
