dev vs. dba (was RE: max open cursors case)

This reminds me of a conflict we had here over whether to use Designer's Table API (generated triggers) for designer generated applications. Our then-DBA put his foot down over it & forbade us to use it. My main ploy in convincing him otherwise amounted to "Dude--somebody's got to write that code--you wouldn't really rather have a chucklehead like *me* writing it, would you?". Unfortunately, he didn't buy that...

In the "light a candle" spirit--is anybody out there doing inservice trainings or brown bag sessions to try and bring up the level of db expertise of the devs? If there's time, I would think that'd be a decent option--very good politics, etc.

Cheers,

-Roy

Raj,

After years of getting beaten up because I did not control the code going into my database and it caused performance problems, I finally learned and have turned into a very very stubborn person when it comes to this stuff. Of course, it helps that my boss backs me up on this :)
