-- I've always taken Jeremiah's modivation on this to be functionality. You can wait for db tasks on shutdown immediate or you can wait for recovery later. It just depends on when you want to wait and the times are not always the same. Under some circumstances, immediate may cause a much very long wait and that can be unacceptable. If you need to bring it down, don't fear abort. There are times when abort is the tool you need, not some evil twin. Oracle, by design, has the db covered, less some early v7 releases. =============================================================== Ray Stell stellr_at_vt.edu (540) 231-4109 KE4TJC 28^D -- Please see the official ORACLE-L FAQ: http://www.orafaq.net -- Author: Ray Stell INET: stellr_at_cns.vt.edu Fat City Network Services -- 858-538-5051 http://www.fatcity.com San Diego, California -- Mailing list and web hosting services --------------------------------------------------------------------- To REMOVE yourself from this mailing list, send an E-Mail message to: ListGuru_at_fatcity.com (note EXACT spelling of 'ListGuru') and in the message BODY, include a line containing: UNSUB ORACLE-L (or the name of mailing list you want to be removed from).
