Hi...
If you do not want to use pl-sql for populating your
varchar2 field, then another choice is:
use the COPY command from sqlplus... for doing the
pass of data.
you must have into account that varchar2 just can hold
up to 4000 characters!
so, your long data column, should not have more than
4000 chars or you could use: set long 4000
