Re: insert stmt disk reads

Do you have many indexes on your system ?

A table insert often results in index updates; and for large tables with many indexes you usually find that some of the index leaf blocks have to be read from disk.

In sqlarea I am finding some insert statements with high disk reads . why would an insert statement will generate disk reads ? Any idea .
