The quick and dirty way would be to use soft links.

Or you can change the oracle startup scripts (I think). Might there be a line like:

ORATAB=/your/favorite/spot

in the startup/shutdown scripts??

I have a quick question..
In a SUN environment, how would one place the oratab and oraInst.loc files within a directory that would be self-contained within the $ORACLE_BASE directory tree instead of /var/opt/oracle????
