Home -> Community -> Mailing Lists -> Oracle-L -> Re: MAX Length of of Name for Table / Index ?
They are 30 characters, each.
Why? Well, there has to be some limit on the length. 30 seems an ok number. While designing the table names, anything more than 30 chars seems a bit difficult to digest. But then again, Oracle should have given the option to use a longer name, too. Particularly in indexes this seems a tad bit small. In 10i, it may be more.
