Hi Stephane,

Thanks for the attempt.

When I saw the O7_DICTIONARY_ACCESSIBILITY I thought it would be the answer. Unfortunately Dennis Williams is right in saying that this parameter only allows users with SELECT ANY TABLE privileges to also see SYS tables.

Short of changing my scripts for different version of Oracle due to obsolete columns and values, I was trying to see how OEM could easily just nominate a minimum database version and ensure that the script still works against a higher version of Oracle.

Unfortunately I haven't been able to find a way of doing so :-(

Leng.

v$instance changed a lot. Otherwise Jared is right about #, which was mos=
tly appended to (number) columns named 'TYPE' (became a reserved word in =
8.x, thanks to the $=A3=F9=E0=E7?%* object option) (in sys.obj$, sys.user=
$ most notably, possibly sys.seg$ too - perhaps sys.con$ or sys.cdef$ as =
well, can't remember).=20
To answer the original question more precisely, there is a O7_DICTIONARY_ACCESSIBILITY init.ora parameter (in 8 and 8i at least), bu= t I am still unclear about its exact meaning and purpose.
