instance shutdown problem ? (please help)

ver 8i NT4.o
all services have been set to automatic and start fine

however the NT Event Viwer and the oracle "alert.log" show that the instance being shutdown just after the box boots up.

how do we rectify this problem ?

below is from the alert.log

ORA-205 signalled during: alter database mount exclusive.. Shutting down instance (abort)
License high water mark = 5
Instance terminated by USER, pid = 144

please note: the shutdwon was not initiated by any admin or user but done by the system itself after the box boots up.
