RMAN backup

Hello All,

Is resizing the datafiles the only way of reducing the size of an RMAN full backup? Oracle Version 8.0.6. We take RMAN hot backups to disk, and the size of the backup has grown considerably. There's one large table which we were considering truncating. But looks like that would not reduce the size of the backup. Dropping the table will call for an production outage. I am considering moving the table to another tablespace, and dropping the existing one. Any ideas?

Thanks
Raj
