9(9)v99 will NOT have the explicit decimal point. It is totally 11 characters only.
It is 12345678901 w/o decimal point

Totally off Oracle topic.

I am studying the mainframe layout specs for a flat file, and came across this "datatype", and I just want to confirm my interpretation.

PIC 9(9)V99 So that's 9 digits before the decimal point?

And then two digits after the decimal point?

And the actual data would have a decimal point?

So in this case, for a total of 12 characters?

123456789.99 ?

TIA!!!
