Have we had several cases where oracle.exe on NT during patching of Oracle Apps 11i gets a runaway thread. This thread is not known to Oracle - not in v$session. Even if shutdown database, still at 100%. Must halt the service for it to resolved.

Oracle is theorizing backupexec from Veritas might be a problem - but doesn't make sense since that service is always running.

Now in a dump, Oracle see's something called purify and want us to disable it to see if that makes a difference.

Never heard of purify - what is this??
