We are in the midst of a big move to RMAN. We use EMC's EDM to do backups, and the SAs have been pushing us towards RMAN for a while now, cause the EDM interface intergrates w/ RMAN seamlessly. It really is a nice backup solution. (We started the process by upgrading all our EDM units to 5.0) Anyhow, we are setting up the RMAN catalog databases ringht on the EDM boxes. (The EDMs are Solaris boxes.)

It's working well. We haven't yet fully rolled out, but all our testing has worked fine. We're about to start the production database migration next week.
