OT: oracle and appliance storage

Hi All,

Server A, Win 2000, Oracle 8.1.7
Server B, Win 2000 with Auspex storage appliance

We want to test all datafiles to be on Server B. How does Oracle on server A know about datafiles on server B. It is my understanding that Oracle does not recognize map drives. There must be another way that Oracle recognizes drives on Server B. Can anyone shed any light?
