Selecting from a sequence DOES generate logs. The statement will be a UPDATE to the SYS.$SEQ.
I have an issue right now where we have a runaway process that polls the sequences (and doesn't use them), and it is generating SO much archiving that its a real issue..... (still workging on it)....
I used logminer on the archive logs and the seq generates an UPDATE to the sys table each time the seq is hit.
