Home -> Community -> Mailing Lists -> Oracle-L -> DB link and imports
FYI,
If you have an invalid db link used in a piece of stored PL/SQL, and you do
a full db import, the import utility will drop the package bodies that
contain the invalid db link. I am not sure but I think it does this when
checking whether stored code compiles successfully after the data has been
imported.
We discovered this when someone on another site changed the IP address of one of their servers the same weekend we rebuilt a database.
So, add it to your checklist:
- before doing full export, verify that all db links in stored packages are
valid
- before doing full import, verify that all servers referenced by db links
in stored packages exist
