Home -> Community -> Mailing Lists -> Oracle-L -> RE: IMP-00051: Direct path exported dump file contains illegal column length
You should be using the 8.1.6 client to export, and the 8.1.7 client to import. Hopefully that's what you're doing.
If you're using a direct mode export port, try using conventional.
Make sure you're not corrupting your dump file when moving it from AIX to Win2k. If you're using FTP, make sure its a binary mode transfer. Sometimes doing an imp show=y helps to tell if the dump file is corrupt.

column length
I R'd TFM and it said to call Oracle support.
Anybody have any idea how to work around this? The export is from an
8.1.6
database on a RISC/AIX. I'm trying to import it into a 8.1.7 on Win2K
sp2.
I've tried it with both the 8.1.6 and 8.1.7 client.
TIA
